We exhibited some of the Lizz Aston´s work at Festival 2012.

The most important source of inspiration for Lizz is to be constantly engaged in looking at what is going on in contemporary art and craft today.  She also enjoys going to galleries, looking at art and doing research online, as well as attending lectures and workshops

World of Threads Festival – Interview with Emma Nishimura of Toronto, Ontario, Canada

 

Emma Nishimura from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, draws a lot of inspiration for her artwork from the complicated history of her grandparents.  They were interned as Japanese Canadians in WWII.  Using photographic records, she explores the relationships and interactions between the sites where these stories occurred and the memories themselves.  Emma has also traveled to these locations, witnessing what remains, forming new memories – an extension and continuation of the original story.
